Mixed wrestling is a wrestling contest among female and male essentially in between contenders of opposing gender as compared to professional wrestling where it’s typically a competition between which is usually played between female and female, essentially in between players of same genders. Mixed tag team matches are also sort of the similar thing as there are pairs of man and woman against another female and male players. This type of wrestling is getting popular as intergender wrestling. But inter-gender tag team contests are bit dissimilar from the mixed tag team matchs. In a mixed tag team match there is a core regulation which limits man and woman players to attack one another. If one of the contender tags, then the opposing team has to involuntarily exchange their contender. But the wrestler has to be of the similar gender as the other team’s wrestler. So if it’s a male in the ring then only the man wrestler of the opposite side can arrive in the ring to wrestle. This type of tag team wrestling has gotten a lot of popularity in the recent years.
To tell you with a little backdrop, not too long ago, male and women hardly ever competed against each other, because it was found to be unfair and inequitable match. It will be safe to say that intergender wrestling was first made famous during the early 1970s to 1980s by comedian Andy Kaufman. He proclaimed himself Champion of Intergender Wrestling. He openly challenged to any female player. There are many other well known players including Jacqueline etc. Now a days intergender wrestling developed into in style and popular part of events such as World Wrestling Federation.
